Academy (Recreational)

We offer an academy-style program for players ages U7-U8. (For info on U7/U8 ages, check out the chart on our age matrix page.) The emphasis is on individual ball skills using small sided games to teach concepts. Instead of registering a team in the Rochester District Youth Soccer League, friendly games with other academy programs are arranged. We utilize licensed coaches for the program coaches with parent volunteers serving as assistant coaches.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there tryouts?

There are no tryouts for our academy program.

What equipment is required?

Players need soccer cleats, shin guards, a soccer ball, and a water bottle.

How often are practices?

Indoor practices start in November and run through the end of April. Practices are scheduled once a week, alternate between Saturday and Sunday, and take place at The Game Development Sports Complex in Fairport, NY. Outdoor practices may be scheduled during spring/summer.

Do academy players participate in games?

The players in our academy program participate in games organized by the club where they compete against each other in a structured and supportive environment.

Do we have to purchase a uniform?

Academy players do not have to purchase a Fusion uniform.
